Located just north of Norfolk's city center, the Park Place Historic District reflects more than a century of growth, beginning in the late 19th century with neighborhoods like Kensington, Old Dominion Place, and Virginia Place. The extension of the streetcar line in 1898 and creation of Lafayette Park, the city's first park, made the area a desirable place for families. With easy access to downtown and nearby industry, Park Place thrived through the first half of the 20th century and today remains one of Norfolk's most storied neighborhoods. Adding to this legacy is the Newly Built Newport Gardens Apartment, a community designed to bring modern living into a historic setting. Each apartment is thoughtfully appointed with stainless steel appliances, dishwashers, in-unit washers and dryers, luxury vinyl flooring, ceiling fans, and high-speed internet readiness. Expansive windows and private balconies provide scenic views, blending comfort with style in the heart of the city. Newport Gardens also offers secured entry access, video security, a resident lounge, bike storage, an elevator, and convenient off-street parking. Its prime location places residents within walking distance of dining and retail, on the city bus line, and minutes from attractions like Blaque-C Restaurant & Lounge, the House of Consciousness/Jikoni Café, African Village Restaurant, the Virginia Zoo, and Inside Scoop Cereal Treats & More. By uniting Park Place's historic charm with modern amenities, Newport Gardens creates a vibrant lifestyle where culture, convenience, and community converge.
